1. Navigate to Inventory > Products.
2. Click on the product you would like to set up with overage charges.
3. Within the General tab, scroll down to the hour tracking section, check the box next to Hour Tracking, then enter the Daily Hours Limit (machine hours a renter is allotted per day) and Overage Rate (rate for each hour that exceeds the allotted time set above).
4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.
Once the overage rates have been set up, you can track and charge for overages within the order process, as outlined in the steps below:
1. When placing an order "On Rent", add the hour meter amount at the time of rental start.
Note: The most recent recorded hour meter reading will be pulled in automatically, but always double-check this value before confirming to ensure it hasn't changed since it was last recorded.
2. When placing an order on "Return," enter the hour meter reading at the time of rental end. This will calculate how many hours exceeded the daily limit and automatically apply the overage rate. Once you confirm the amount, click the Return button.
3. Once the order has been Returned, the invoice will include the additional line item for the overage charge. You can edit this amount using the pencil icon or remove the line item using the trash can icon.
