This article walks you through installing and configuring ParseLink and the ID Authentication SDK so your ID scanner works with Quipli. Complete each step in order — the process takes about 15–20 minutes.
Note: The hardware scanner option is only compatible with Windows systems. If you're using a Mac or other operating system, you'll need to use our free e-commerce upload feature instead.
You can purchase the scanner here: 🔗 Order the CR5400 ID Scanner
ℹ️ Before you begin: You will need internet access to download the software and a USB port available for the scanner. You will also need to contact Quipli Support partway through to receive a license file.
Step 1 — Download & Install the Software
- Go to https://idscan.net/download/ and download ParseLink and the ID Authentication SDK.
- Install both applications.
📌 Note: The ID Authentication SDK is over 800 MB — the download may take several minutes. Do not install VeriScan.
Step 2 — Show File Extensions and Hidden Files
Windows hides certain files by default. You need to unhide them before completing later steps.
- Open File Explorer.
- Click View → Show and check both File name extensions and Hidden items.
Step 3 — Connect the Scanner
- Plug the scanner into a USB port.
- Go to Start → Control Panel → Hardware and Sound → Device Manager.
- Confirm that CR5400 Document Reader appears under Universal Serial Bus devices.
If the scanner does not appear, try a different USB port or restart the computer and check again.
Step 4 — Open ParseLink
- Go to Start → ParseLink to launch the application.
- Confirm that the green ParseLink icon appears in the system tray (lower-right corner of your screen).
Step 5 — Register the Scanner with ParseLink
- Right-click the ParseLink system tray icon and select Registration.
- Copy the Hardware ID shown in the window.
- Send the Hardware ID to Quipli Support at support@quipli.com. Quipli Support will generate a license file and email it back to you.
- Once you receive the license file, right-click the ParseLink icon again and select Registration.
- Click Select... next to Please select the license file and choose the file Quipli Support sent.
- Confirm the license shows as activated, then click OK.
Step 6 — Enable ParseLink at Startup
- Right-click the ParseLink system tray icon.
- Select Settings and check Launch ParseLink on system startup.
Step 7 — Configure the Image Scanner
- Right-click the ParseLink system tray icon and select Connect a Scanner → Image Reader Settings.
- Select your scanner from the top dropdown. The serial number may start with 54U.
- Uncheck Show Save image dialog.
- Click OK.
📌 Scanner not in the dropdown? Return to Step 3 and verify the computer recognizes the scanner in Device Manager before continuing.
Step 8 — Install the Profile File
- Download the Quipli_-_Scan_License.xml profile file provided by Quipli Support.
- Open File Explorer and paste the following path into the address bar to navigate directly to the destination folder:
C:\ProgramData\IDScan.net\ParseLink\Keystrokes - Copy the profile file into that folder.
- Restart ParseLink:
- Right-click the ParseLink icon → Quit.
- Go to Start Menu → ParseLink to relaunch.
- Right-click the ParseLink icon → Keyboard Emulation → Active Profile → Quipli - Scan License.
- Click the blue box next to the profile name to activate it.
ℹ️ Note: The destination folder is ProgramData, not Program Files. ProgramData is hidden by default — that's why Step 2 asks you to show hidden files. You can also just paste the full path above directly into the File Explorer address bar to go there without browsing.
Step 9 — Configure the Image Filename Template
- Right-click the ParseLink system tray icon and select Save Images → Set Template File Name.
- Check End With Image Type.
- Set the dropdowns in this order:
- #ID
- _
- First Name
- _
- Last Name
- Select *.png as the file type.
- Click OK.
Step 10 — Disable the Popup for Passed IDs
- Right-click the ParseLink system tray icon and select Verification → Authentication SDK.
- Check Hide popup for "Passed" IDs.
- Check Stop the workflow if an ID fails.
- Click Close.
