Common Questions
Does the delivery charge apply per product or per trip?
Delivery charges are calculated per product, not per trip, when using the Per Product Level or Global Level options. If several products on the same order each have a delivery rate, the system will add a delivery charge for each product rather than treating the whole order as a single trip. If a customer wants a single flat delivery charge regardless of how many products are on the order, the team at the counter can manually adjust the delivery line item on that order.
Can we set up delivery rates by zip code?
Yes. Select Delivery Rate by Zip Codes from the Delivery Charge Options dropdown, then upload the list of zip codes and rates you want to support. Rates should be entered as the one way amount, not the round trip amount, since the system doubles the one way cost automatically for round trips.
What happens if an order comes in for a zip code we haven't added to the system?
The system will return a $0 delivery fee for any zip code that hasn't been imported. Make sure the full list of zip codes a customer delivers to is uploaded ahead of time to avoid this.
Why isn't the delivery fee calculating correctly for an order?
This is almost always caused by an incomplete address, most commonly a missing zip code. Our Google API delivery calculation depends on a full, recognized address including zip code. If a customer's address doesn't return a zip code from Google (common with rural or newly built addresses), the delivery fee will calculate as $0 or fail to calculate at all. In that case the zip code may need to be added manually to the customer's address.
Can delivery rates combine a base cost, per mile cost, and a different rate by zip code?
No, these are separate calculation methods and cannot currently be combined. You can choose either a flat fee by zip code or a base cost plus per mile rate under Global Level, but not a combination of the two (for example, a base cost that varies by zip code plus a flat per mile rate on top).
Does entering GPS coordinates instead of a street address improve delivery accuracy?
Coordinates can be entered in the address line and will save and display correctly (including being clickable on the dispatch map), but the delivery cost calculation itself still pulls from the zip code, not the exact coordinates. So accuracy for the delivery charge won't improve beyond what the zip code provides.
